Mabon (Autumn Equinox, Alban Elfed):

Feast of Demeter. Witch's "thanksgiving". The harvest is celebrated, and offerings are made to the Earth Mother.

Magickally, it is a time of elemental consecration and the purification of one's self in preparation for the coming darkness. An Ivy plant can be used for reconciliation between others.

Traditional foods are blackberries, grapes, new wine, goose, salmon, hazelnuts, and cakes of oat, barley and rye.

Symbols are the cornucopia and the scales (used to measure the harvest, as well as the good in one's soul).

In the Chthonic magickal tradition, Mabon is represented by the Celtic Alphabet Consonants: Coll, Gort and Muin. Celtic Trees: Hazel, Ivy and Grape/Blackberry.
